You Better Belize It
Trip Day
It was trip day today, and it was a great day indeed. First: Sam, Collin, Fred, Elliott and Terri left the hotel around 7:30am and road a few miles down the road to a local airstrip. From there they took a 15 minute flight, about 36 miles, over to San Pedro island. It's a very touristy area with many shops, restaurants and things to do on the beach. They joined about 15 others on a boat and went to two different stops to snorkel along the reef off of San Pedro's coast. The first stop was a shallow spot with beautiful reef and schools of fish. The second stop was a lot more exciting as the leaders of the adventure chummed the waters which brought about 10 sting rays and 6 nurse sharks. It sounds scary, but it was all quite fun, and there was even opportunity to hold a shark or ray if one so chose to do so.
The other group made up of Jeppie, Snooky, Jo and Beverly took a 2 hour boat ride to Lamanai, the site of Mayan ruins. That much preserved history was a site to behold, and as the pictures show the stairs were steep. The highlight of the trip was probably the adorable little friend that was made on the boat ride. Check out the Belize Photo Album to take a look!
We travel to Dallas tomorrow. We are leaving Corozal at 11:00am for the 2 hour bus ride to the airport in Belize City. Please pray for all of us. Pray for patience and energy as we load up and get going. Hopefully we'll update you sometime tomorrow evening on how our traveling day went.
We love you all, and we'll see you soon!
